Over the past few days I have taken the time to remain quiet and still. I have completed at least 100 random searches that have come to my mind periodically. This may seem like a waste of time, but I beg to differ. I believe that everyone, especially those attempting to birth a grand idea, should carve out extended hour of quiet time. During my recent sabatical, I found some very interesting information regarding crowd funding and Kickstarter marketing plans. The Tim Ferris blog, FourHourBlog, has an interesting article about the success that the startup company had with a Kickstarter campaign.

In the article, Ferris discusses a group of guys who were able to rally their friends and networks to promote their vision and raise $100,000 in 10 days (I will share the article on the blog). The article was an easy read with easy to follow steps, templates, and landing page samples that you can alter for your own customized campaign. I have decided to use this platform to raise the funds required to begin my non-profit organization’s work as well as funding for ideas.

Without an extended amount of quiet time I may have never revisited Tom Ferris book and taken then the time to visit his blog for marketing information. I challenge you to return to the books that you have read before. It is amazing how hearing the same information at different points in your life can reap such different and bountiful results. Here are the big ideas that I gathered from my silence:

1. If you have a vision, you can NEVER stop

2. If one door closes, you must search for a window or a doggy door.

3. Think Big

4. If you think small you will remain small.

I have decided that I will not but limits on what I can achieve. As my Mom says, “There ain’t nobody better than Me!” If they can do it, so can I!

5. Patterns are important in business

Throughout my research I have seen one central theme; study what successful people are doing for a roadmap to success.

6. You can’t do it alone.

You must expand your network and work within it to make your dreams a reality.
